Jamuna Riverbank Protection

Project Overview

The Jamuna Riverbank Protection Project stands as a landmark initiative in safeguarding critical infrastructure and communities from one of Bangladesh’s most dynamic and unpredictable rivers. Energypac Infrastructure & Development Ltd. (EIDL) was entrusted with delivering a comprehensive engineering and construction solution that ensures long-term riverbank stability, erosion control, and resilience against seasonal flooding.

This specific work involved riverbank protection along the left bank of the Jamuna River, stretching from km 2.600 to km 2.950 (a total length of 0.350 km) at Jamthal in Sariakandi Upazila, Bogura District. The project was a part of the broader initiative titled “Protection from erosion of the Jamuna River at Pakerdaha & Balijuri of Madarganj Upazila, Jamalpur District, and at Jamthal of Sariakandi Upazila, Bogura District,” implemented under the Jamalpur O&M Division of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB).

Scope of Work

Energypac Infrastructure & Development Ltd. (EIDL) executed the full scope of the project, including:

  • Manufacturing, Placing & Dumping of C.C Block. 
  • Supplying, Filling, Placing & Dumping of geo-bag materials.
  • Supplying & Placing non-woven needle punched type geotextile fabric.
  • Earthwork for riverbank slope work.
  • Supplying & Placing Sand, Brick chips (khoa).   
  •  Quality control and on-site supervision.

Our multidisciplinary team ensured that each phase was executed to meet the highest safety and quality standards — ensuring durability and environmental sustainability.

Implemented in collaboration with the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) under the Jamalpur O&M Division.

Impact

The project has significantly reduced the risk of erosion along the left bank of the Jamuna River, protecting farmlands, households, and key infrastructure in the Sariakandi region. It stands as a testament to EIDL’s commitment to sustainable engineering, technical excellence, and resilient infrastructure development in Bangladesh.
